About this Research Topic
Gastric cancer (GC) is a complex, highly heterogeneous disease caused by multiple pathogenic factors. In the last decade, the treatment of GC has undergone profound changes. In the current era of precision medicine, a better understanding of the process of cancer stem cells in GC is crucial to improve the diagnostic level and improve the prognosis of GC patients.
This Research Topic is interested in articles from multiple categories of basic research, opening new avenues for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of GC through understanding the mechanisms of cancer stem cells. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
1. The role of cancer stem cells in immune response and evasion/distant metastasis in GC
2. The effect of cancer stem cells on microenvironment of GC, and tumor organoid modeling of the tumor microenvironment.
3. The mechanisms of cancer stem cells in drug resistance of GC.
4. The role of non-coding RNA in the regulation of gastric cancer stem cells.
5. Novel cancer stem cells markers for recurrence and progression of GC.
6. Classification, properties and origin of gastric cancer stem cells.
7. Targeting cancer stem cell pathways for GC therapy
Please note: manuscripts consisting solely of bioinformatics or computational analysis of public genomic or transcriptomic databases which are not accompanied by validation (independent cohort or biological validation in vitro or in vivo) are out of scope for this section and will not be accepted as part of this Research Topic.
