About this Research Topic
The aim of this Research Topic is to explore the different mechanisms of various repurposed drugs and de novo designed drugs against SARS-CoV-2, e.g., intervention of viral membrane fusion, invasion, replication and release, or virus-host interaction.
The Research Topic will highlight the different actions of anti-SARS-CoV-2 drugs, e.g. anti-viral, immunosuppressive/anti-inflammatory activity, pleiotropic activity.
In this Research Topic, we welcome submissions of Original Research and Reviews articles. We will not be accepting studies based only on in silico data. Topical editors are extremely interested in receiving work related to the following topics which will be of significance for new drugs discovery and marketed drugs repurposed processes. but are not limited to the following:
-The targets of anti-SARS-CoV-2 drugs;
-Mechanisms of action of anti-SARS-CoV-2 drugs, including chemical drugs, peptides, antibody drugs, etc.
-Methodological research for drug screening and exploring the mechanism of drug action.
-Research on the mechanism of virus-host immune interaction, inspiring the discovery of immunomodulators.
-Research on the mechanism of B cell activation and maturation, paving the screening and discovery of neutralizing antibodies.
-The review of evidence (in vitro, in vivo studies, observational evidence?) triggering experimental studies on COVID19 and possible safety issues of drugs used in COVID19 patients
Keywords: COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, mechanism of action, new drugs discovery, drugs repurposed, virus-host immune interaction
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
