About this Research Topic
We will accept authors submitting novel research articles to improve the quantitative understanding of occurrence, accumulation, and transport mechanism mechanisms in unconventional reservoirs. We are interested in articles that characterize reservoir quality and petrophysical properties at different scales, e.g. core-scale experiments and field tests. Novel Original Research and Review work to advance the rock mechanics, fracturing ability and sweet spot identification are also welcome.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
• Depositional environments and organic matter accumulation mechanisms
• Advances in reservoir characterization of unconventional reservoirs
• Novel methods to test and characterize petrophysical properties of unconventional reservoirs
• Occurrence, accumulation, and transport mechanism of unconventional reservoirs
• Rock mechanics and hydraulic fracturing aspect of unconventional reservoirs
• Effective techniques to enhance shale gas and shale oil recovery
Keywords: unconventional reservoir, organic matter accumulation, reservoir characterization, petrophysics, fluid transport, hydraulic fracturing
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
