About this Research Topic
To address the therapeutic approaches in ASD, we aim to define the causal environmental factors in animal models and patients. In particular, we seek to answer the questions of how and what neuronal circuits are involved in each symptom including attention deficits, social deficits, and repetitive behaviors. We also discuss the various copy number or single nucleotide variations associated with ASD in human or animal models. The goal of the Research Topic is to discover the novel therapeutic targets by definition of the common pathways and common environmental risks in human and animal models.
We invite the following themes to this Research Topic:
• Environmental risk factors in autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
• Common features between animal models and patients in ASD
• Novel therapeutic approach in ASD
• Development of diagnostic strategies for ASD
Keywords: environmental risk factors, autism spectrum disorder, approaches, neurodevelopmental disorder diagnosis
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
