About this Research Topic
The cutting edge contents of this topic will include coverage of general aspects of induced resistance (IR) including the following items:
- Signalling and defence mechanisms
- Trade offs associated with the expression of IR
- Different types of IR such as SAR, ISR, priming
- Epigenetic aspects of IR
- Novel molecules useful as plant defence activators
- Advances in molecular aspects of defence priming
The aim of this Research Topic is to review and discuss current knowledge of the mechanisms regulating plant induced resistance and how from our better understanding of these mechanisms we can find molecules capable of inducing this defence response in the plant, thereby contributing to sustainable agriculture we need for the next challenges of the XXI century. Manuscripts can be of different article types: original research, methods, hypothesis and theory, etc.
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
