About this Research Topic
Recent developments of these imaging techniques are exciting, such as lung perfusion monitoring with electrical impedance tomography, regional ventilation/organ flow perfusion assessment with ultrasound, microcirculatory hemodynamics assessment by SDF/IDF. Questions are: where are these technologies going to lead us? How would they help us in personalized medicine and make clinical decision and improvement in patient outcomes?
This Research Topic aims at presenting recent advances in bedside visual image technologies including electrical impedance tomography (EIT) for ventilation and perfusion, side stream dark-field (SDF) imaging for microcirculation, and critical care ultrasound for lung and heart assessment in critically ill patients.
We welcome Case Report, Review, Expert Consensus, Original Research and other article types. We expect submissions relating, but not limited to, the following themes:
• Advance of bedside visual image technologies for respiratory and circulatory management in ICU/emergency/anesthesia
• Clinical application/analysis method of electrical impedance tomography (EIT) for ventilation and perfusion evaluation in ICU/emergency/anesthesia
• Clinical application/analysis of visual measurements (SDF/IDF) for microcirculation in ICU/emergency/anesthesia
• Clinical application/analysis of ultrasound for heart, lung, other organs assessment in ICU/emergency/anesthesia
• Other novel visual image technologies to achieve bedside disease diagnosis, routine check-up of disease progress, personalized therapy development, and facilitation of decision making
