About this Research Topic
The metamaterials and metasurfaces field is rapidly developing to integrate new physics, new functions and new applications. Devices based on metamaterials and metasurfaces have the potential to bring new features and to even replace the traditional electromagnetic devices in the future. Therefore, functional structural materials have recently become the subject of several rapidly-growing research areas and have demonstrated useful properties in structure-based devices with engineered resonant electric and magnetic responses.
The aim of this Research topic is to cover the latest developments in electromagnetic metamaterials and metasurfaces, including new designs, physics and functions. We welcome submissions of original research that strives to promote the rapid development of this field.
Areas to be covered in this Research Topic may include, but are not limited to:
· Microwave metamaterial lenses
· Electromagnetic invisible cloaks
· Coding and digital metasurfaces
· Electromagnetic illusion devices
· Metasurface antennas
· Programmable metasurfaces
· Metasurface-based lenses
Keywords: electromagnetic metamaterials, metasurface devices, lens antenna, transformation optics, meta-lens
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
