About this Research Topic
This Research Topic will focus on understanding and developing new strategies that cover recent advances in drug and gene delivery that focus on developing multifunctional polymeric materials with controllable material composition, multifunctionality, targeting, smart delivery, responsive delivery, multimodality therapy, and integration treatment.
Original Research, Review, and Perspective articles related to the specified subject are welcomed. These subject areas include but are not limited to:
- Development of next-generation synthetic biomaterials with multifunctionality for drug and gene delivery applications for cancer diagnosis and treatment, tissue vascularization and regeneration, and genetic disease treatment are especially encouraged.
- Multifunctional polymers for nanomaterials and microparticles with integrated biofunctions, diagnosis and treatment for cancers, infectious diseases, and genetic diseases treatment.
- Innovation in drug and gene cargoes with desired biochemical and biophysical characteristics, especially targeting, bioresponsiveness, biomimetic and intelligent ability.
- Design and development of novel polymeric carriers with defined nanostructural architecture and functions to achieve the controlled release.
-Molecular design of multifunctional polymers for drug and gene delivery with low toxicity and high efficacy over current clinical standards.
- Novel drug and gene delivery systems and the aspects of targeting and controlled release, release mechanisms, in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo assessment.
