About this Research Topic
Damaged tissues or organs repair is one of the most challenging issues for regenerative medicine. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) play a crucial role in case of injury, healing and reestablishment of various tissues including bone, muscles, nerves, myocardium, liver, cornea, trachea, and skin. Furthermore, the process of tissue regeneration may improve effectively and rapidly when stem cells are used in combination with biomaterials/scaffolds, that provide a three-dimensional microenvironment to promote cell growth and differentiation, and specific growth factors to accelerate healing and tissue restoration.
This Research Topic aims to report interdisciplinary approaches for tissue repair and regeneration that combine physiology, developmental biology, regenerative biology, and tissue engineering.
We welcome the submission of manuscripts to this new Frontiers Research Topic from scientists whose work focuses on stem cells, regenerative medicine, and molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying tissue regeneration.
