About this Research Topic
On the other hand the increased interest in sustainable agriculture favors the studies on more environmental friendly organic-based materials which are more readily available. Although many organic-based foliar treatments with complex products like fermented fruits has proved to be effective but the effective ingredients and share of each part in observed response remains unclear. Various organic acids, amino acids, sugars, alcohols, plant growth regulators, macro and micronutrients could exist in orgnaic-based biostimulants, which could affect synergistically or antagonistically on the outcome. Studies working with simpler agents could be beneficial in understanding the possible mode of action of each part. The cumulative information in this area could help to reach a fundamental approach in formulation of foliar sprays based on organic ingredients.
Scope of this topic includes epigenetic regulation of plant responses to the environment by foliar biustimulants and possible effects on plant growth and regulation and improving its adaptability to the surrounding environment. This includes enhanced tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses such as pest and disease, salinity, water-deficiency and heat or cold stress. The effects on quality (including bioactive agents and health promotive effects) and yield parameters is the other aspect of improved adaptability. "Sustainability" and "Environmental considerations" could be considered as the common keywords of this research topic.
We welcome Original Research, Technology Report and Methods regarding application of complex or simpler organic-based agents, alone or in combination with renewable minerals. Researches that shed a light on the mechanism behind the action of these agents are of speciall interest. Mini Reviews, Hypothesis and Theory and General Commentary that provide new insight into different aspects of science and technology of foliar nutrition and biostimulation of plants are highly appreciated. As this is considered a new field of science and technology, we encourage the pioneers in this field to consider giving their valuable comments, which would help to build a sound foundation for future of this research topic.
