About this Research Topic
The rate of scientific output from China in the materials science and engineering domain has grown steadily in recent years and China has begun to solidify its status as a global leader in Open Access publishing. In 2018, China became the largest producer of SCI-indexed original research articles. As recent as 2019, more than 400,000 publications came from China, of which 22% were published Open Access (compared to just 15% in 2015).
Therefore, this article collection aims to exhibit the work of Chinese-based researchers across the breadth of the materials science and engineering field in an open-access forum. The work presented here will highlight advances in theory, experiment, and methodology, with applications to compelling problems.
The authors have been nominated by the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Materials, and through showcasing their work here, we aim to provide both a snapshot of the current field and a glimpse of what the next decade might hold.
This article collection is open for submissions across all specialty sections of Frontiers in Materials, and new articles will be added to this collection as they are published.
Please note: Spontaneous submissions will also be considered only with a preliminary submission of an abstract; to be considered for this collection, at least one of the corresponding authors must be based in China.
