About this Research Topic
Neurosurgical vascular diseases constitute a heterogeneous chapter and a challenging topic. The overall management of intracranial aneurysms, brain and spinal cord arteriovenous malformations and cavernous angiomas, cranial and spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas, as well as spontaneous cerebral hemorrhages impose to implement complex strategies and tailored tactics within the decision-making process of these patients. Additionally, the tremendous advancements of surgical, neuroimaging, endovascular and radiosurgical techniques have opened the way for a multidisciplinary approach of the neurovascular diseases, for which a continuous update is mandatory.
This Research Topic focuses on the state-of-the-art, technical aspects, novel options and strategies of the management of the surgical neurovascular pathologies.
The goal is to encourage an updated overview of recent advances in surgical, endovascular, and radiosurgical treatments of these pathologies, promoting an interdisciplinary approach.
This collection wishes to include original articles, trials, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, as well as surgical videos.
Areas to be covered in this Research Topic may include, but are not limited to:
• Molecular and genetic pathways of brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, and cavernomas;
• Factors affecting the decision-making process of the surgical neurovascular pathologies;
• Microneurosurgical and endovascular techniques for brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and arteriovenous fistulas;
• Minimally invasive technique for intracerebral hemorrhages;
• Combined modality treatments for brain arteriovenous malformations;
• Radiosurgery for brain cavernomas and arteriovenous malformations.
