About this Research Topic
To date, how immune cells rewire intracellular metabolism in response to inflammatory and metabolic stress is not fully understood. Further, it is less clear regarding the reciprocal regulation between immune cells and metabolic tissues in the context of metabolic diseases. We are interested in studies to address these key research questions.
The scope of the research topic is immunometabolism, including intercellular immunometabolism (crosstalk between immune cells and metabolic tissues, including liver and adipose tissue) and intracellular immunometabolism (regulation of immune cell function via metabolic reprogramming, focusing on lipid metabolism).
Keywords: Lipid metabolism, glucose metabolism, macrophages, inflammation, inflammasome, autophagy, oxidative stress, redox, immunometabolism, PUFAs, saturated fatty acids, atherosclerosis, metabolic diseases
