About this Research Topic
The effective conversion of biomass complex structures and mild fractionation into individual components is a profound challenge for the development of biorefinery. The main problems of the processes are the high requirement of reaction conditions, low product selectivity and complicated catalyst recovery process.
This application is devoted to developing a green and efficient catalytic system, improve the conversion efficiency of biomass-based raw materials, and reduce environmental pollution. Moreover, using a biorefinery approach to achieve the integration of the process of biomass conversion with the production of biofuels and chemicals.
The Topic Editors encourage submissions of Original Research, Review, Perspective and Mini Review articles. The themes covered in this Research Topic include but are not limited to:
- The recent advances in the conversion of biomass waste or biomass-based sources or platform chemicals to value-added products and biofuels;
- Processing of biomass with different green routes for the output of high-value materials in various environmental remediation;
- Research related to catalytic reaction and reactor engineering, lignocellulosic biomass depolymerization, industrial utilization, and techno-economic analysis of catalytic processes for biomass valorization.
Keywords: biomass waste valorization, heterogeneous catalysts, functional materials, environmental remediation, valuable products, green chemistry
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
