About this Research Topic
Matrix assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS) which is commonly used for the analysis of molecules with large molecular weight plays vital roles in organic and biomedical analysis. MALDI MS-based protein and peptides analysis has achieved great progresses in the past few decades. In recent years, various novel matrices have been developed and successfully used for small molecule analysis, especially the wide application of MALDI-imaging in the studies of drug metabolism, biomarker discovery and so on. In this Research Topic, we would like to attract high-quality manuscripts focusing on novel methodological advances of MALDI-MS techniques in organic and biomedical analysis.
We welcome Original Research, Review, Mini Review and Perspective articles on the development of novel strategies on the methodology of MALDI mass-spectrometry based techniques around organic and biomedical analysis. Specific themes may include, but not limited to:
• MALDI MS-based -omics analysis in clinical medicine
• MALDI MS-based small molecules analysis
• MALDI imaging of animal model or clinical samples
• MALDI MS-based organic compounds characterization
• Studies on the fundamental aspect of MALDI to define the limitations of analytical challenges
• MALDI characterization of polymers
