About this Research Topic
Herein, the main goal of this Research Topic is to bring together novel and interesting waveguide structures fabricated by fs-laser micromachining working at different wavelengths in transparent materials, and their applications.
Within the scope of this Research Topic, authors are encouraged to submit their recent findings of passive and active fs-laser inscribed guiding structures. Studies on laser beam shaping, waveguide lasers, and optical modulation are invited. In particular, we warmly welcome articles covering the following themes:
- Physics of modification of transparent materials through fs-laser micromachining
- fs-laser fabricated novel and flexible guiding structures for integrated components
- Fabrication of 2D and 3D waveguides in silica
- Innovative approaches of optical microfluidics fabricated by fs-laser micromachining
- Newly established studies of waveguide lasers fabricated by fs-laser inscription
- Optical nonlinear performances of waveguides achieved in distinct materials
- fs-laser inscribed gratings in waveguides
Keywords: femtosecond laser inscription, optical waveguides, transparent materials
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
