About this Research Topic
Recently, the introduction in the research setting and in clinical practice of new high-resolution non-invasive imaging devices (i.e. high-resolution structural optical coherence tomography [OCT] and OCT-Angiography [OCT-A]) has allowed us to better investigate several clinical aspects in the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of AMD. In detail, a crucial role is played by the identification of new biomarkers. Indeed, the identification of imaging biomarkers could be very useful for the correct early diagnosis and management of AMD patients.
In this Research Topic, we would like to describe new insights into the management of AMD, from pathophysiology to early diagnosis and clinical management. We hope to compile the latest research on, and clinical applications of, multimodal imaging examinations in the diagnosis and treatment of AMD.
This Research Topic aims to create a multidisciplinary forum of discussion about new insights in the management (i.e. diagnosis and treatment) of AMD. In detail, for this Research Topic we welcome submissions of Original Research, Brief Research Reports, Case Reports, and Reviews of exceptional merit addressing one or more of the following topics:
• Identification of multimodal imaging biomarkers in the early diagnosis of AMD
• Identification of multimodal imaging biomarkers useful in the management and follow-up of AMD
• Application of multimodal imaging in the understanding of the pathogenesis of AMD
• Clinical application of multimodal imaging in AMD
