About this Research Topic
Despite the rising application of DBS in various movement disorders, up to now, the exact mechanism of DBS within the context of movement disorders is unknown. This article collections aims to investigate new DBS surgical and programming techniques in movement disorders, understanding the neurophysiological brain changes observed in these conditions and the use of neuromodulation for the treatment of these diseases. Additionally, we are interested in recent technological advancements that could improve stimulation location and timing, highlight types of signals that could be used as a biomarker, and provide an overview of how these biomarkers could be decoded to deliver stimulation.
We invite cutting edge articles and review articles which discuss new treatment modalities in patients with movement disorders. Contributions on the following themes are welcome:
• Cutting edge DBS and neuromodulation research
• Diagnosis and novel treatment in movement disorders
• Wearable technologies in movement disorders
• Telemedicine in movement disorders
Keywords: movement disorders, neuromodulation, deep brain stimulation, surgery, treatment
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
