About this Research Topic
Quantum computing is a disruptive technology that promises to impact different sectors of academic research and industry. In the past decade, there has been a great effort in the development of quantum computers and much progress has been achieved. Concrete examples of such progress are the so-called quantum supremacy, that has been recently demonstrated by Google, and the small scale quantum computers that are remotely accessible by the public via cloud services. Despite the recent progress, many challenges remain. To achieve practical usage, the development of quantum computers will need new innovative solutions.
