About this Research Topic
A number of repositories, analysis resources and algorithms have been developed aligning with the different aspects of peptides, which range from their therapeutic (anti-microbial or anti-cancer) nature to drug delivering properties. On the other hand, immune responses mediated through peptides have paved the way for synthetic vaccine design and immunotherapy against infectious diseases and neoepitopes are being investigated for cancer. Interestingly, new studies suggest that one single peptide sequence can display more than one property.
As the peptide informatics field moves forward, it brings many opportunities and also opens up new challenges for data analytics and algorithm development. This Research Topic invites outstanding research and review articles to recognize the contribution of peptides informatics in biomedical science. This collection includes but is not limited to the following research categories:
1) Peptide resources/databases (therapeutics, diagnostics, neoepitopes etc.)
2) Machine learning/Deep learning based efficient designing of peptide-based drugs
3) Peptide modifications for non-natural amino acids
4) Epitope predictions and analysis tools
5) Moonlighting peptides
6) Screening of therapeutic peptides from next generation sequencing
7) Computational designing of drug delivery peptides
