About this Research Topic
The aim of this collection is to succinctly highlight recent studies on metal complexes in materials science, with a focus on complexes for catalyst and nanoparticle synthesis. This would create a better understanding of studies reported in this field and brings to fore areas that have been well studied and those that need to be further explored by discussing recent findings. This Research Topic would gather papers from several primary literature papers to produce a coherent discussion about the topic or focused description in a field of interest.
This article collection will focus on recent trends where metal complexes are being utilized in materials applications for catalyst and nanoparticle synthesis. We hope to collect papers investigating different properties of metal complexes such as varying oxidation states, metal-ligand interactions, electronic states, varying geometries and structures, reactivity. Some areas of interest are, but are not limited to:
• The utilization of complexes as materials for catalysis
• The utilization of complexes in sensor and detection devices
• The use of metal complexes as precursor to prepare nanomaterials that have desired properties
• The use of metal complexes in thin films
