Waste management is a topic well discussed in literature, however some practices are very far to implement circular economy models in a real context. Consequently, the use of landfill site is a technological option adopted by several decision-makers. This Research Topic concerns both developed and developing nations.
‘What is a waste? A potential resource to favour a sustainable transition. Evidence from the practice’ is based on the application of environmentally friendly practices, as reuse, recycling and recovery, performed on the real case-studies. It involves all typologies of waste (e.g. e-waste, end-of-life vehicle, municipal solid waste) asking an empirical approach aimed to demonstrate benefits associated to the circularity of resources. Policy makers, managers, academics and firms can cooperate to identify potential solutions showing as waste is a potential resource.
Empirical studies are welcomed in this collection. In particular, potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
• Economic analysis of waste management
• Environmental analysis of waste management
• Social analysis of waste management
• Identification of new indicators able to assess the performance of waste management
• Technical improvements in the field of waste management
