About this Research Topic
Molecular compositions of m6A RNA methylation include m6A methyltransferase, m6A demethylase, and m6A recognition factors. m6A methyltransferases, also known as “writers” contain methyltransferase-like 3 (METTL3), METTL14, Wilms tumor 1-associated protein (WTAP), KIAA1429, METTL16 and RNA-binding motif protein 15/15B (RBM15/15B). M6A demethylases, named as “erasers” , contain the fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO) and alkB homologue 5 (ALKBH5). M6A recognition factors, known as “readers,” consist of YTH domain family (YTHDF1/2/3). YTH domain-containing proteins (YTHDC1/2), heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (HNRNP) protein families, eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 (eIF3), and insulin-like growth factor-2 mRNA-binding proteins 1/2/3 (IGF2BP1/2/3). Increasing evidence shows that m6A modification acts an essential role in various physiological and pathological bioprocesses.
This Research Topic aims to focus on the current understanding of basic biology and applications of RNA modification and noncoding RNAs in human diseases. Original Research, Methods, Review and Mini-Review articles are all welcome. The articles may cover, but not limited to, the following topics:
• Identity the regulators of m6a RNA methylation
• Reveal the function of RNA methylation in human diseases
• The role of noncoding RNAs in human diseases
• The interaction between RNA methylation and noncoding RNAs in human diseases
• The molecular mechanisms of RNA methylation in human diseases
