About this Research Topic
While there has been enormous progress made, there are still some gaps in our knowledge of epigenetic memory and cellular processes. For example, the identity of unique epigenetic memory factors, epigenome coding enzymes/co-factors/scaffolding proteins involved in the assembly of defined “epigenetic memorysomes”, the epigenome marks that constitute collections of genes regulated to epigenetic memories in the specific cell types and physiological conditions. A better understanding of the molecular basis for epigenetic memory will play a central role in improving diagnostics and prognostics of disease states and aid the development of targeted therapeutics of complex diseases.
This Research Topic aims to present the latest research in the field of epigenetic memory, especially in human diseases. It will include, but not limited to cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, autoimmune disorders, ageing and developmental disorders. Besides, the Research Topic will consist of recent insights on the establishment and alternation of epigenetic control, especially in regards to pathologies.
We welcome Original Research and Reviews that explore, but are not limited to, the following list of themes:
• Investigation of epigenetics inheritance and dynamics
• Cancer epigenetics including the role of oncohistones, non-coding RNA and others
• The regulation of aging by epigenetic approaches
• Epigenetic modulation of human neurobiological disorders
• Epigenetic basis of autoimmune disorders
• Screening of epigenetic drugs
• Development of epigenetic biomarkers for human diseases
