About this Research Topic
This topic welcomes any oral microbiome studies, culture or sequenced based, that advance our understanding of the composition or functions of these communities, their role in maintaining oral health and strategies to exploit these data for diagnostic or preventive purposes.
We welcome studies that describe:
- New insights into the composition or stability of the oral bacteriome, mycobiome or virome
- Innovative methods to study the composition or function of the oral microbiome
- Novel insights into the host-oral microbiome relationship in health or disease
- Diagnostic potential of the oral microbiome
- Probiotic strategies to prevent oral disease
- Articles on animal microbiomes are welcome
