About this Research Topic
As the number of high-energy particles accelerators rapidly increases in last five years, and researches on the biological effects of high-energy particles have become more extensive and deeper. It is necessary to summarize the latest achievements in the field of biological effects of high-energy particles to promote exchanges between scientists around the world.
We hope to achieve three goals through this Research Topic. First, to introduce achievements and experiences in using high-energy particles to treat malignant tumors. Second, to summarize the recent influential research progress of high-energy particles radiobiology. Third, to review the latest research in the field of land-based space radiation biology.
The aims and scope is to summarize the past and present works of various high energy particle therapy and research centres in terms of operation, treatment and research. Potential themes include, but are not limited to:
• New progress in particle radiotherapy
• Advances in space radiation biology
• New directions in medical imaging research related to carbon ion/ proton therapy
• New insights into high-energy particles radiobiology
• Related research on boron neutron therapy
Keywords: particle radiotherapy, radiation breeding, medical proton, heavy ion accelerator, space radiation biology, boron neutron capture therapy
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
