About this Research Topic
This Research Topic aims at publishing selected and novel research contributions on fouling in membrane filtration processes. The topic is extended to different membrane processes employed for the treatment of different feeds (seawater, wastewater, fresh water, industrial wastewater, brine, produced water, process stream in food, biorefineries etc).
Original Research, Review and Mini Review articles, case studies and methods are welcome. The potential themes include, but are not limited to:
• Economic and environmental impact of fouling
• Membrane cleaning
• Fouling monitoring in membrane processes
• Biofouling development in membrane systems
• Membrane fouling in industrial and healthcare processes
• Scaling formation in membrane processes for desalination
• Fouling control, mitigation and membrane cleaning
• Case study of fouling development in full-scale plant
• Particulate and colloidal fouling
Keywords: fouling, cleaning membrane processes, desalination, wastewater treatment
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
