Mindfulness training is a popular well-investigated nonpharmocologic intervention used to overcome psychological disorders, promote physical health, and protect against and recover from highly stressful experiences. Yet, the mechanisms of action by which this training improves/alters mind-body functioning are only beginning to be understood.
This Research Topics issue would discuss cutting-edge studies currently being conducted to investigate the neural changes in attentional and affective-regulation systems that may accompany mindfulness meditation training.
