About this Research Topic
The aim of this Research Topic is to provide recent, novel and mechanistic insights into the role of extracellular vesicles in multiple diseases such as cancer, autoimmune diseases, etc.
The Research Topic will include original articles and reviews that focus on the use of multi-omics techniques (such as proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics, genomics, and transcriptomics) to better understand and identify new potential therapeutic targets and new biomarkers.
Important topics to include are:
• Extracellular vesicles in cancer and autoimmune diseases
• Multi-omics analyses of extracellular vesicles
• Data integration of multi-omics data
• The impact of vesicles in cell-cell communication in disease
• Vesicles and their cargo as biomarkers
• Vesicles and new therapeutic targets
• Vesicles for drug delivery
We welcome review papers on any of the suggested topics.
Keywords: Extracellular vesicles, microvesicles, exosomes, purification and isolation, mass spectrometry based characterization, genomics and transcriptomics, biomarkers, therapeutic targets, cancer and microenvironment
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
