About this Research Topic
Systems biology approaches have been increasingly implemented in biomedical research over the last years and are helping in getting a more complete understanding of which genetic and environmental factors affect the complexities of human aging. Application of -omics to understand the mechanisms of immune aging in people living with HIV (PLHIV) in the era of effective ART might be beneficial not only for their wellness, but also to understand the mechanisms of immune aging in healthy subjects.
In this Research Topic we aim to explore the knowledge obtained from recent scientific advances and cutting-edge technologies in the broad field of immune aging and HIV. We welcome the submission of Original Research articles, Reviews, Methods, Clinical Trials and Perspectives focused on the following subtopics:
• Omics studies (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) to understand immune aging in PLHIV
• Use of soluble biomarkers to define inflammatory state in PLHIV
• Mechanistic studies to understand the immune-aging in PLHIV
• Clinical trials/studies related to the aging in PLHIV
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
