About this Research Topic
To obtain high-performing materials, molecular design concept is critical. Optical and electrochemical properties, solubility, and the charge transfer ability can all be easily controlled through adjusting the molecular chemical structures and their neighboring molecular interactions. For instance, (i) enlarging the size of alky chains could enhance the materials’ solubility; (ii) increasing the π-conjugation system or introducing electron-rich and efficient unities on the polymer backbone could reduce the band gap or bathochromic shift in the optical absorption; (iii) self-assembled or crystalline conjugated materials often show high charge transfer mobility.
In this Research Topic, we therefore welcome Original Research, Mini Reviews, Reviews, and Perspectives on themes including but not limit to the following sub-topics:
- New conjugated pigments: synthesis and characterizations
- Design and synthesis novel π-conjugation materials
- Applications of π-conjugated materials such as electronic devices, coatings, windows, etc.
