About this Research Topic
This Research Topic on the International Conference on Smart materials, Signal Processing and Pattern Recognition in Sensor based Technologies is going to be the premier interdisciplinary platform for the presentation of new advances and research results in the fields of chemical, electrochemical Sensors and biosensors. The conference will bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and scholars in the domain of interest from around the world. Moreover, the main goal of conference is to provide a platform for future developments of novel multifunctional nanomaterials in design, synthesis, characterization and their related applications especially in the field of sensors and energy.
Accordingly, nanostructured based chemical sensors play an important role in many aspects of science, technology, industry, or daily life. Accurate, sensitive and reliable identification of various characteristic gases or specific components in low concentration is mandatory in some areas such as industrial and agricultural plants, automotive technologies, food sciences, environmental monitoring, or air quality security, to name just a few. In the last few years, nanostructured based chemical sensors have received a close attention of the sensor community throughout the world because of some unusually superior sensing performance. However, research and development of nanostructured gas and chemical sensor devices continue to be faced with numerous challenges in terms of sensitivity, selectivity, promptness of response, robustness, and many other aspects. Synthesis and fabrication of novel nanostructured sensing materials open new opportunities, while the fundamental understanding of underlying sensing processes continues to be improved. At the same time, knowledge about sensing mechanisms has greatly improved by sound theoretical models as well as spectroscopic technologies.
This Research Topic intends to highlight the emerging technologies of nanostructured based chemical sensors and their applications, and aims at presenting the latest technologies and methodologies developed in this interdisciplinary field of science.

l) Nanostructures, nanofabrication, and nanoprobes by electrochemical sensing modality.
