About this Research Topic
Over his long career, Klaus has made important contributions to the research on vascular biology, haemostasis, and extracellular nucleic acids in vascular disease, just to name a few. The Purpose of this Research Topic is to honor the work of Klaus with a collection of review articles and original research papers from authors working in these fields of research. We especially welcome contributions from all colleagues who have shared the scientific journey with Klaus over the years, and the participants of the farewell symposium.
We would appreciate submissions on topics such as the physiological function of the cardiovascular system, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, haemostasis and thrombosis, complement system, immunology, cell-matrix adhesion, extracellular vesicles and nucleic acids.
Topic Editor Prof. Ritva Tikkanen receives research funding from Neurogene Inc. and GC Pharma for studies unrelated to the subject. Topic Editor Prof. Carl Blobel is co-inventor on a patent describing a method of identifying agents for combination with inhibitors of iRhoms. He and the Hospital for Special Surgery (New York, USA) are investigating suitable approaches to identify iRhom inhibitors, and are co-founders of a small company called SciRhom in Munich to pursue these efforts. Topic Editor Dr. Sylvia Fischer declares no competing interests with regards to the Research Topic subject.
