About this Research Topic
Although significant progress has been achieved to efficiently produce high quality steel at a low cost, many challenges are still open and new research themes are raised for exploration. This research topic aims to highlight recent Advances in Steel Manufacturing and Processing. In particular, new developments and technologies concerning converter steelmaking, EAF steelmaking, ladle refining, steel cleanness, non-metallic inclusion management, slag optimization, continuous casting, ingot casting, heat treatment, rolling, quality control, process optimization, intelligent manufacturing, and numerical and physical simulation of mentioned processes are encouraged. We wish to collect a series of quality work on this topic, for the purpose of better understanding relevant mechanisms and facilitating engineering applications.
This Research Topic welcomes contributions addressing all aspects of steel manufacturing and processing toward tackling the above questions. As such, we solicit submissions in the form of Research, (mini) Review and Perspective articles, including but not limited to the following themes:
• Optimization of steelmaking and continuous casting process
• New characterization methods of steel production
• Simulation and optimization of metallurgical process
• Metallurgical process engineering
• Intelligent metallurgy and manufacturing
• Steel processing
• High-quality steel production
• Slag optimization, thermodynamics and kinetics
• Physical metallurgy of steel
• Clean steel production
• Special metallurgical process
Keywords: process metallurgy, Steel, physical metallurgy, optimization, intelligent manufacturing
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
