About this Research Topic
In recent years, our understanding of peroxisome biogenesis, inheritance, functions, protein targeting, contact sites and diseases has dramatically increased. Moreover, it is clear that the interest in peroxisomes is rapidly expanding as their central regulatory roles are becoming clearer.
This Research Topic aims to bring together leading scientists from the various areas of peroxisome biology – cell biology, genetics, synthetic biology, structural biology, biochemistry, systems biology, physiology and medicine. The collection will include research papers, protocols, opinion pieces, hypothesis papers and reviews dedicated to discussing new methodologies, novel data and the challenges and future directions in the field of peroxisome biology.
By enabling leading scientists in the peroxisome arena to contribute to the Research Topic we hope to drive forward the field of peroxisome biology, discuss and solve open questions in the field, and enable scientists that are interested in peroxisomes to join this exciting field of study. Moreover, by furthering our understanding of this organelle, we aim to support the creation of methods for earlier diagnosis and potential treatment of peroxisome-related diseases.
