Alma Mater Europaea – Evropski center, Maribor forms publishing agreement with Frontiers  

Alma Mater Europaea has formed an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers. This institutional agreement means that eligible Alma Mater Europaea researchers may publish in any Frontiers journal, and select partner journals, at no cost to them and with a simplified process. Articles may benefit from a 10% membership discount. Alma Mater Europaea supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. This agreement will further encourage Alma Mater Europaea researchers to publish open access, increasing the volume of research openly available. The University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) forms open access publishing agreement with Frontiers  

The University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) has joined the Sikt Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement, the national partnership agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers.  This partnership means that eligible UNIS researchers may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to them, with a simplified process, and may benefit from a 10% partnership discount.  The University Centre in Svalbard supports their authors in publishing open access. This agreement will further encourage UNIS researchers to publish open access, increasing the volume of research openly available. While this reduces costs for the researcher, it also benefits the wider research community and the public at large. The National Institute for Research & Development in Chemistry and Petrochemistry (ICECHIM) and Frontiers form a publishing agreement

ICECHIM – Bucharest, Romania has formed an institutional partnership agreement for Open Access publishing with Frontiers. This institutional partnership agreement means that eligible ICEHIM researchers may publish in Frontiers journals, benefitting from the widest possible audience, with a simplified process and at no cost to them. Articles may benefit from a partnership discount for Article Processing Charges (APC’s) that are covered under the agreement. Frontiers publishing partnerships update – spring 2023 

The latest news on our collaborations with scholarly societies. Welcome from Robyn Mugridge, Head of Publishing Partnerships  As our community of publishing partners grows, we are pleased to welcome you to our new Frontiers publishing partnerships quarterly round-up. Here you will find news of newly agreed partnerships and upcoming events as well as the latest updates on our program. 2022 was an important year for publishing partnerships at Frontiers: our partner journals published a total of 831 articles overall submissions to partner journals increased by 66% we maintained an average decision time of 67 days. Frontiers has now moved more than 16,000 partner journal articles to our open access platform – significantly contributing to our mission of making science accessible. 2023 is set to be another exciting year for our publishing partnerships and we look forward to marking further milestones in the coming months. Biomedical Research Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences signs publishing agreement with Frontiers

The journal Acta Virologica will move to gold open access publisher Frontiers in April, as part of an agreement signed by the Institute of Virology from the Biomedical Research Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (BMC SAS). Credit: Frontiers The agreement is Frontiers’ first publishing partnership in Slovakia and marks an important step forward for open access in the field of virology. Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Silvia Pastorekova, director general of BMC SAS, said: “We are excited to partner with Frontiers and bring Acta Virologica to a wider audience. Frontiers’ commitment to open access and innovative publishing solutions help us achieve our mission of advancing virology research and improving global health.”  Acta Virologica is an international journal focusing mainly on molecular and cellular virology, publishing fundamental research related to human, animal and plant viruses. Areas of interest range from the morphology of viruses to vaccines and antiviral drugs.   Established in 1957, the journal was previously published under a hybrid model by AEPress. East Carolina University forms publishing agreement with Frontiers

East Carolina University has formed an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers. This institutional agreement means that eligible researchers may publish in any Frontiers journal at 50% cost to them and with a simplified process. The university library supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. This agreement will further encourage East Carolina University researchers to publish open access, increasing the volume of research openly available. While this reduces costs for the researcher, it also benefits the wider research community and the public at large.    Information for researchers   If you are an East Carolina University researcher, please select East Carolina University in the payment information section (“Frontiers institutional members”) when submitting your article. Frontiers will verify your eligibility with the library and, if confirmed, 50% of the APC will be paid by the library upon acceptance. You will receive an invoice from Frontiers for the remaining 50%. The Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies forms open access publishing agreement with Frontiers  

The Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress (Nasjonalt Kunnskapssenter om vold of Traumatisk stress – NKVTS) supports their authors in publishing open access. As part of this support, the Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress will cover Article Processing Charges (APCs) for eligible articles centrally for their eligible authors. As part of the Sikt Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement, NKVTS will benefit from a 10% partnership discount. Eligible authors are corresponding authors affiliated with the Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress. Frontiers institutional partnerships update – spring 2023

The latest news on our collaborations with research institutions, libraries, consortia, and funders. Welcome from Frank Hellwig, Institutional Partnerships Development Manager The first months of 2023 brought several key additions to our community of institutional partners. Through these new partnerships, as well as through our longstanding relationships with many other institutions, we are pleased to be able to support a growing number of researchers, librarians, and consortiums in the global transition to open access. As of spring this year, we are happy to report that more than 650 institutions worldwide now benefit from partnership agreements with Frontiers. We look forward to welcoming more partners throughout the year, and, as our community grows, we will continue to work to better understand the preferences and needs of institutions and researchers. New partnership announcements We have announced several new partnerships and renewals over recent months. World Economic Forum Frontiers has entered into a new partnership with the World Economic Forum (WEF). As part of the new agreement, Frontiers will join the WEF’s Centre for New Society and Economy and champion open science across the network. University of Glasgow forms publishing agreement with Frontiers – JISC national open access deal

We would like to announce that the University of Glasgow has joined the national open access deal agreed between Jisc Collections and Frontiers.  This deal provides a simplified and streamlined route to open access publishing for researchers in the UK, who publish 7% of the world’s research.    This institutional agreement means that University of Glasgow corresponding authors may publish papers which acknowledge funding by UKRI, Wellcome Trust, British Heart Foundation or Cancer Research UK in any Frontiers journal at no cost to them.  Funds may be limited however, and authors should seek confirmation by contacting research-openaccess@glasgow.ac.uk.  Eligible articles benefit from a 10% membership discount.   The University of Glasgow supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. Norway renews national deal with Frontiers

Frontiers announces that its national agreement with Norway, first signed in 2020, has been renewed for 2023. The agreement, signed by the Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research​​ (Sikt), simplifies the publishing process for Norwegian researchers who publish in Frontiers’ journals. Ronald Buitenhus, head of institutional partnerships at Frontiers, said: “Frontiers is delighted to continue to support Norway in the transition to open science through the renewal of this agreement. We look forward to continuing our work together to empower research communities and accelerate the impact of science in society.” Currently 36 institutions and research centers benefit from the terms of the agreement. New institutions can register to participate at any time and there is no annual fee to join.  What are the benefits of joining the partnership? Frontiers streamlines the publishing process for researchers and their institutions with tailored, flexible, and financially sustainable models.
