Luxembourg and Frontiers strike national Open Access publishing agreement

Luxembourg’s research community has strengthened its commitment to Open Access through a new national publishing agreement, announced this week. The Bibliothèque Nationale du Luxembourg, the country’s national library, and the open access publisher Frontiers have reached a three-year publishing deal that will run until February 2024. Managed by the Consortium Luxembourg national library service, participating organizations include: the Bibliothèque Nationale du Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Institute of Health, and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology, as well as the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR), making it the first publisher agreement to include the main funder in Luxembourg. This is also the first deal between a national consortium and Frontiers with an annual payment structure, a model designed to help streamline and simplify operations. Eligible authors from participating institutions now benefit from reduced administration when they publish in any one of Frontiers’ portfolio of 116 open access journals at no cost to themselves. Frontiers, the Consortium and FNR will now directly manage tasks such as making payments and managing communications. University of Colorado Boulder and Frontiers form open access publishing agreement

We are delighted to announce that the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) has established an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers.  The University of Colorado Boulder supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, the University of Colorado Boulder Libraries have entered an institutional agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of this agreement, eligible authors from CU Boulder may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to the author.  To be eligible, a publication’s corresponding author must be affiliated with the University of Colorado Boulder.   Eligible authors will benefit from a streamlined invoicing process, managed directly between Frontiers and the University of Colorado Boulder Libraries, relieving authors of the responsibility of payment. Furthermore, the University of Colorado Boulder Libraries will benefit from a membership discount on processing charges for articles covered by this agreement.  This agreement will further encourage CU Boulder authors to publish open access, enabling broader access to the results of mostly publicly funded research, while at the same time reducing overall costs.  Information for authors:  To submit your article under this institutional agreement, please select “University of Colorado Boulder” as institutional payer in the invoice section when submitting your article. Durham University has joined the Frontiers – JISC national open access deal

We are delighted to announce that Durham University has joined the national open access deal agreed between Jisc Collections and Frontiers. Durham University supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, Durham University Library has entered into a discount agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of this agreement, eligible authors from Durham may publish in any Frontiers journal and there will be a 10% discount to the cost of the APC – only where the remainder of the fee is to be covered by either the UKRI Open Access Grant Award or the Wellcome Trust Open Access Grant Award. The benefit to you, as an author, is a simplified process for indicating who will make the payment for your invoice and ensuring that the invoice is sent to the Open Access Team. Eligible authors are: Authors who have already confirmed with the Durham Open Access Team that existing UKRI or Wellcome open access funding is available to them to cover the remaining costs of the APC. Queen Mary University of London has joined the Frontiers – JISC national open access deal.

We are delighted to announce that Queen Mary University of London has joined the national open access deal agreed between Jisc Collections and Frontiers.  This landmark deal provides a simplified and streamlined route to open access publishing for researchers in the UK, who publish 7% of the world’s research. Queen Mary University of London supports its researchers in making their research more widely available.  As part of this deal, eligible authors may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to them and with a simplified process. Eligible authors will benefit from a streamlined invoicing process, relieving authors of the responsibility of payment. Furthermore, Queen Mary University of London will benefit from a discount on Article Processing Charges (APCs) for articles covered by this agreement. This agreement will further encourage Queen Mary University of London authors to publish open access, increasing uptake of open access to the results of mostly publicly funded research, to the benefit of the scholarly community and the public at large, while reducing costs.
