Article rejection: Review of the Emerging Evidence Demonstrating the Efficacy of Ivermectin in the Prophylaxis and Treatment of COVID-19. Dr. Frederick Fenter, Chief Executive Editor of Frontiers: “Regardless of the publication stage or subject of a manuscript, if the integrity of an article is called into question, our policy is to investigate. Upon further scrutiny by our Research Integrity team about the objectivity of this paper during the provisional acceptance phase, it was revealed that the article made a series of strong, unsupported claims based on studies with insufficient statistical significance, and at times, without the use of control groups. Further, the authors promoted their own specific ivermectin-based treatment which is inappropriate for a review article and against our editorial policies. “In our view, this paper does not offer an objective nor balanced scientific contribution to the evaluation of ivermectin as a potential treatment for COVID-19. Frontiers and the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute form open access publishing agreement

The Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) supports their authors in publishing open access. As part of this support, the NGI will cover Article Processing Charges (APCs) for eligible articles centrally for their eligible authors. Furthermore, the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute will benefit from a 10% membership discount under the terms of the UNIT Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement. Eligible authors are corresponding authors affiliated with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute. Information for authors: To submit your article under this agreement, please select ‘Norwegian Geotechnical Institute’ as the payer in the invoice section when submitting your article. Frontiers will then verify your eligibility with the NGI Library, and if confirmed, the APC (minus the discount) will be paid by the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute upon acceptance. The University of the West of England Bristol has joined the Frontiers – JISC national open access deal

We are delighted to announce that the University of the West of England Bristol has joined the national open access deal agreed between Jisc Collections and Frontiers.  This landmark deal provides a simplified and streamlined route to open access publishing for researchers in the UK, who publish 7% of the world’s research. The University of the West of England Bristol supports its researchers in making their research more widely available.  As part of this deal, eligible authors may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to them and with a simplified process. Authors in receipt of a grant from any of the UKRI research councils will benefit from a streamlined invoicing process, relieving authors of the responsibility of payment. Furthermore, the University of the West of England Bristol will benefit from a discount on Article Processing Charges (APCs) for articles covered by this agreement. This agreement will further encourage UKRI funded University of the West of England Bristol authors to publish open access, increasing uptake of open access to the results of mostly publicly funded research, to the benefit of the scholarly community and the public at large, while reducing costs. As part of the Sweden Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement, Malmö University will benefit from a 10% membership discount. Authors are asked that during article submission the corresponding author’s Malmö University institutional email address is used.
