The literature on leadership has evolved in accordance with changing global expectations over time and the significance of new leadership approaches which are based on environmental sustainability has increased day by day. Green transformational leaders, one of the results of this evolution, are different from other leadership approaches in terms of their role in motivating employees and increasing their environmental awareness by integrating their environmental sensitivities into the organizational culture. This type of leadership is of great importance especially in present world in terms of the positive impact they can have in line with the measures taken against climate change and sustainable development goals. The present study aiming to determine the mediating role of job satisfaction in the effect of green transformational leadership on intention to leave the job was carried out with employees working at 4 and 5 star hotels in the Antalya region. The findings obtained through the data from 391 people indicated that green transformational leadership had a negative effect on the intention to leave and job satisfaction played a mediating role in this relationship. Moreover, it was found that green transformation leaders increased employees' job satisfaction, strengthened their commitment to the organization and reduced the intention to leave. These findings reveal that green transformational leadership is of critical significance in terms of organizational sustainability and employee satisfaction. In this respect, this study aims to contribute to the literature by filling the gap in the literature related to the effects of sustainability and environmental approaches on employee behavior.
