School Supportiveness and Innovative Abilities in Vocational Education: The Mediating Role of Motivation to Innovate among Vocational Teachers

Creativity and innovation have become essential elements for vocational teachers to drive educational advances. To gain an insight into vocational teachers’ innovative capabilities, this study aims to explore their capabilities and compare them across the level of classes they teach. Furthermore, a causal model was developed and validated to investigate their innovative to employ with vocational teachers in Northern Thailand. We utilized data from a cross-sectional survey of 560 vocational teachers to estimate and validate a causal model by using AMOS (Analysis of Moment Structures). The result revealed that the overall innovative capability levels were high. There were statistically significant differences across class levels of teaching. Ultimately, the causal model demonstrated a good fit to the data and demonstrated the innovation had a significant mediating effect between school supportiveness and innovation.
