In the published article, the reference for Boels et al., 2022 was incorrectly written as “Boels, L., Hoogland, K., Kleine Deters, B., Jonker, V., and Wijers, M. (2022). Interpreting and Understanding of Contemporary Information Sources. Available online at: www.hu.nl/onderzoek/publicaties/het-interpreterenen-begrijpen-van-hedendaagse--informatiebronnen (accessed September 01, 2023).” The reference should be “Boels, L., Hoogland, K., Kleine Deters, B., Jonker, V., and Wijers, M. Available online at: https://www.hu.nl/onderzoek/publicaties/het-interpreteren-en-begrijpen-van-hedendaagse--informatiebronnen (accessed September 01, 2023).”

In the published article, there was an error with a mathematical expression.

A correction has been made to Basic skills: a historical and contemporary perspective, paragraph 5. This sentence previously stated:

“Examples include more complex calculations starting from 123 × 939, 1.434.300 ÷ 171, 24 ÷ 7: 5 ÷ 19 and so on.”

The corrected sentence appears below:

“Examples include more complex calculations starting from 123 × 939, 1.434.300 ÷ 171, 24/7 ÷ 5/19, and so on.”

The author apologizes for these error and state that this does not change the scientific conclusions of the article in any way. The original article has been updated.
