A Corrigendum on
Situational crime analysis of poaching within Territorial Use Rights Fisheries (TURFs)

By Vallejos T, Nahuelhual L, Gelcich S and Oyanedel R (2024). Front. Mar. Sci. 11:1419800. doi: 10.3389/fmars.2024.1419800

In the published article, there was an error in Figure 1 as published. TURFs location site is incorrectly named “Carelmpau” instead of “Carelmapu”. The corrected Figure 1 and its caption appear below.

The authors apologize for this error and state that this does not change the scientific conclusions of the article in any way. The original article has been updated.

In the published article, there was an error in Figure 4 as published. The version of Figure 4 currently published is a draft version. The order of the Crime Script Stages is incorrect and does not align with the stages depicted in Figure 3. Additionally, the list of Situational Crime Precipitators is incomplete, as the published image is cut off at the “Conflicts” factor, omitting several key factors discussed in later sections of the article, such as: Limited access, TURFs surrender, and Economic disparity. The corrected Figure 4 and its caption appear below.

Figure 4

Figure 4. Number of extracted narratives divided by crime script stages. Left, colored by source of the narratives. Center, colored by situational precipitators of crime specific factors. Factors are grouped by precipitator category, prompt factors in green colors; permission factors in red colors; provocation factors in yellow colors; and pressure factor in grey. Right, colored by situational crime prevention category. “Only descriptive” stands for narratives that didn’t fall into any SPC or SCP category, however useful during CSA.

The authors apologize for this error and state that this does not change the scientific conclusions of the article in any way. The original article has been updated.
