Social physics enables us to theoretically describe and understand collective social phenomena that originate from interactions among individuals, groups, and governments. The preservation of natural resources for next generations and climate impact research are among the most critical issues for several areas, especially Social Physics.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 interlinked and multidisciplinary global goals compatible with the 2030 Agenda, and 169 targets to think about the countries and at the regional and global levels, besides different realities. The SDGs are integrated and indivisible, and they are proposed to think that development must balance social, economic, and environmental sustainability. These issues must be worked with integrated perspectives and need to consider the relationships between the population and their territories and the multi-scale analysis of social processes.
This research topic aims to bring together multidisciplinary papers towards the Sustainable Development Goals on both physical and social sciences, especially integrating them. Beyond traditional data analysis and mathematical/computational modeling for physical and social systems, the recent literature highlights the relevance of discussing causality and explanation. A multidisciplinary team composed of physical and social sciences experts is welcome for this task.
From traditional physical sciences, the main themes are clean energy, climate research, and life on land and below water. From traditional social sciences, the main themes are the fight against poverty, vulnerable populations, well-being and education, and gender equality.
