The International Society for Biosafety Research (ISBR) organizes a bi-annual symposium on biosafety of genetically modified organisms and related biosafety research. The 15th ISBR symposium will take place from April 1-4, 2019, in Tarragona, Spain. This meeting represents the premier scientific conference for academic, government and private sector scientists working on the science of environmental risk assessment (ERA) for genetically engineered plants, animals and microorganisms. This Research Topic in Biosafety of Genetically Modified Organisms will provide a forum for publications resulting from the symposium. Articles in the Topic will include thought pieces on future research needs for biosafety, research results, and discussion of the current ERA paradigm and its application to new and emerging applications of genetic engineering. Articles will also be encouraged from session organizers to offer their opinions and the outcomes and future directions for the topics of their sessions.
NOTE: Only papers based on oral and poster presentations from the ISBR2019 symposium are considered as contributions to this Research Topic.
