This Research Topic welcomes submissions exploring new approaches and methods for studying mechanisms and identifying new targets for intervention. There will be a focus on shifting to new kinds of targets that encompass multiple levels (e.g. computationally defined mechanisms that place behavior, cognition and physiology into a single explanatory framework).

There will be an emphasis on integrating across multiple modalities, particularly on integrating physiological measurements into psychological therapies. This includes functional neuroimaging measurements, but also passive data collected from mobile devices and wearables (e.g. geolocation, digital social interaction, heart rate, sleep and peripheral nervous system).

We welcome all forms of submissions: Original Research, Methods, Hypothesis and Theory, Review, Perspective, Opinion, Editorial, Case Report, Mini Review, Clinical Trial, Clinical Study Protocol, Systematic Review, Brief Research Report.
