This Research Topic aims to collect selected contributions to
FSTP3, the
3rd International Conference on the From Seed To Pasta value chain, held in Bologna, Italy, on 19
th-21
st September 2018.
Facing the challenges posed by climate change to a sustainable production of durum wheat while ensuring an adequate production to meet the demand of the pasta supply chain will require an interdisciplinary strategy based on different expertise. In this frame, this Research Topic provides a timely update on the latest achievements in durum wheat production and processing to produce pasta and to assess the impact of the durum-pasta value chain on the environment and our health.
Experts from five continents will discuss the role of emerging research approaches and technologies in addressing critical challenges to enhance durum wheat productivity and its sustainability toward a healthier and more nutritious pasta production.
The selected articles will highlight recent advances in the knowledge of durum wheat and will cover the main aspects of durum wheat production and pasta quality. In particular, this Research Topic will collect contributions in the areas of genetics, genomics and biotechnology, high-throughput phenotyping, breeding, molecular biology, response to biotic and abiotic stresses, and management of durum wheat. Articles on quality, nutritional properties and health aspects of pasta are also eligible for this Research Topic.
The multidisciplinary approach of this Research Topic is of great value for anyone interested in the results of research on the durum-pasta value chain.
Contributors are welcome to submit Original Research, Methods, Opinions, and Reviews related to all topics of the conference.
