Nowadays, cardiovascular diseases are not only a leading cause of deaths, but also a serious economic burden in the Western world. Development of novel drugs and therapeutic strategies against these devastating diseases represents therefore an important and emerging challenge of our times. Experimental research sets the basis for innovative treatment strategies and research excellence requires use of up-to-date and standardized methodologies. Global sharing of novel technologies in the scientific community and
improvements in standard operating procedures would make research more time- and cost-effective and in the global scale would contribute to faster translation of bench findings into clinical applications.
The aim of this Research Topic is to provide a comprehensive presentation of methodological and technological innovations in basic and clinical experimental cardiovascular research as well as technical advances in the commonly used techniques. The Research Topic covers a broad range of methods used in experimental cardiovascular research including but not limited to molecular techniques, high dimensional analyses, cell culture and preclinical animal models.
Clinical trials, case reports and routine clinical diagnostics are generally excluded. Authors are welcomed to submit the following types of articles: 1) protocols or methods with examples of obtained data, 2) reviews discussing advantages and limitations of novel technologies and 3) original research involving technologically advanced methodologies in
experimental applications.
