The pediatric oncology field is at a crossroads. There have been incredible advances in the identification and characterization of key genetic events associated with pediatric cancer development, and significant advances in understanding signaling pathways and cooperative pathways required for these tumors. Similarly, there has been an explosion of molecularly-targeted agents available for the treatment of patients with cancer, but opportunities to treat pediatric patients with these agents in a rational way are only just emerging.
The goal of this Frontiers Research Topic is to provide a forum for understanding the current state of the art of basic biology in pediatric cancer, and to use this as a platform for investigators to understand where there are key prospects to use this knowledge to transform the care of children with cancer.
We encourage submission of basic, translational and clinical research papers as well as hypothesis and theory articles and reviews.
Before submission, authors should carefully read over the journal’s
Author Guidelines.
