About this Research Topic
In recent years, computational models of the electrical behavior of the heart have proved to be useful tools for improving our understanding of the biophysical principles of cardiac electrophysiology. As a result, these models are beginning to be used to improve cardiac arrhythmia treatment.
Advanced cardiac models have been developed, including a realistic geometry base on MRI or CT images, complex electrophysiology and fiber orientation. Methods for developing patient specific models are being developed and translated to the clinic.
In this Research Topic we would like to explore the potential of biophysically based models to become a clinical tool to aid in diagnosis and treatment. This Research Topic would welcome submissions related to: mechanisms underlying cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac resynchronization therapy, prediction of the efficacy and safety of drugs, radiofrequency ablation, surgery optimization and cardiac defibrillation.
