Bone integrity is maintained throughout life via the finely tuned actions of bone cells, with disruption in this tuning eventually leading to bone disease. Although various regulatory systems are known to be involved in maintaining healthy bone, new therapies are constantly needed. This Research Topic, developed in conjunction with the Bone Research Society, is focused on articles about novel extracellular signalling mechanisms in bone, including those which represent possible new therapeutic targets in bone disease.
